Check the employer’s timeline

If the vacancy gives a response date or says not to contact the team, follow that instruction. Otherwise, allow a reasonable period after applying before sending one brief check-in.

Use the right channel

Reply to the application confirmation or use a verified recruiter contact listed by the employer. Include the role title, application date and your name so the recipient can find your details.

Keep the message concise

Reaffirm your interest, add one relevant point if useful and ask whether there is an update to the hiring timeline. Keep the tone courteous and avoid implying that a reply is owed immediately.

Continue your search

Record the follow-up and move on to other suitable roles while you wait. Do not resend your full identity documents or pay a fee because someone promises to accelerate an application.
