Prepare for a remote job interview

Set up your space, test the call and prepare clear answers for a confident video interview.

Test the technology early

Confirm the meeting platform, time zone and joining instructions. Test your camera, microphone, internet connection and headphones before the interview, and keep a phone number or alternate connection available if the call drops.

Choose a quiet, clear setting

Use a stable camera position at eye level and a simple background with light on your face. Silence notifications and tell others nearby when you need privacy. If your space or connection is limited, let the interviewer know calmly.

Keep notes brief

Place the vacancy, your CV and a few questions near the screen. Use notes as prompts rather than reading a prepared script. Look toward the camera when making key points and pause before answering.

Follow up professionally

Thank the interviewer, mention a specific point from the discussion and confirm any next step you agreed on. Avoid sending sensitive documents unless the employer has provided a verified channel and a clear reason.
