Make the opening specific

Name the role and explain briefly why this employer and position fit your experience. Avoid generic openings that could be sent to any company. If a contact person is clearly listed, address them by name.

Connect evidence to the role

Choose one or two examples that answer the employer’s stated needs. Explain the work you did and the outcome you can support. Keep the letter focused on details that are not already obvious from the CV.

Keep it clear and accurate

Use short paragraphs and a professional tone. Check the employer name, role title, dates and contact details. Do not claim skills, results or qualifications you cannot discuss honestly in an interview.

Close with a useful next step

Restate your interest, thank the reader and say you would welcome a conversation. Save the final letter as a PDF when requested and use a clear filename.
